About the NYC Math Tutor
Tim Miller
I have been a lifelong math enthusiast. I started winning math competitions at an early age and was the valedictorian at my high school. I went on to receive my Bachelor's in Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis, where I also minored in Economics, German, and Writing. I received a full scholarship to pursue my Masters of Arts in Teaching (concentration in mathematics for grades 7-12) from Bard College before becoming a full-time tutor. I love working with students one-on-one or with small groups. I have been using my tutoring talents in New York City full-time since 2008 and have worked with hundreds of students.
In my spare time, I do logic puzzles competitively. I was on the silver-medal-winning US Puzzle Team for the World Puzzle Championship 2022, and was second alternate for the US Sudoku Team for the World Sudoku Championship in 2022. In 2023, I competed in both Championships again, improving my individual placements. I am part of the team that won the MIT Mystery Hunt in 2025. I live in Manhattan with my family, including our cat.
